Catalan Pubilla and Dancing Partner

Catalan Pubilla Dancing with her partner [enlarge]

There was a very similar image in Barcelona Photoblog of a young maiden or pubilla dancing in Monistrol, a town at the foot of Montserrat mountain. In that old post I explained what a pubilla or an hereu are and I also talked about the dance and garments. As the previous picture had a vintage effect (kind of daguerreotype), in this one I preserved colors for you to compare.

It's very interesting learning things about other cultures and their way of life. The fishnet gloves and hair net the lady looks quite lovely. Thank you for providing the link to your earlier post, I didn't know about that custom.

I love the first post but the color one is stunning.

This image is so alive and immediate. I loved it and then clicked on the sepia one (had missed it earlier) and clicked back-and-forth because I had difficulty in deciding which I like best. The sepia-tone image wins for the special depth and light and for the subtle face you captured on the right.

What a wonderful photo of the dancers. I feel like I could reach out and touch the fabric.
