Moving in Barcelona

Moving in Barcelona [enlarge]

Moving to a different house or apartment in Barcelona is of course as in many cities something very common. It is not strange to see these huge ladders with a lifting platform hanging from balconies here and there. This was not always like that. I remember that in the 80s heavy furniture in general had to reach upper storeys by means of pulleys hanging out from the roof or using the staircase or elevators if any. In the picture, moving service staff at work in one of those El Born buildings with the beautiful arcades right in front of Ciutadella parc.

I lived in Barcelona 5 years ago for one year. I moved 7 times that year, and it was a pain in the ass each time because I acquired a lot of stuff.

The trick for me was moving into a furnished apartment.

This is still better! We moved to a different place recently and had 4-5 people lifting the cupboards, bed, sofa and stuff to carry it down from the second floor to the Mover's Truck!! Its tuff but that's the only way to do it here in Mumbai!!!

How nice to see that it is done the same way as over here. Probably due to the size of the city. The architecture however is much more beautiful in your city !
Please have a nice Thursday.

Some magnificent apartment buildings! They look like expensive real estate with lovely balconies!

Much better than the ropes they use here in Rio de Janeiro!
